This is the place where you can find out more about me and my book, Breastless in the City. It is a place where I hope you can find some inspiration and support for whatever difficulties you may be going through. I believe we are all truly survivors! I believe we are also here to support each other. No one knows better what you are going through than someone who has shared a similar experience!
I am a survivor of many things. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 31 not long after becoming a widow when my husband was killed in a car accident when I was 25. Needless to say I have wondered what joke the gods were playing on me at times but I believe it all made me a stronger person! I have been a survivor since 2001!! I thought I was too young to have breast cancer and so did my doctor. I want to be one of the examples that yes, it can happen! My book is about my experiences of being a young, single, dating woman going through a mastectomy and going bald all while trying to find a man--no easy task! It certainly wasn't easy when I had my boob and hair! But I survived and there is a happy ending to my story! I have been remarried since 2003 to a wonderful man I met at the end of my chemo treatments. Each day is a gift! I hope to help many young people out there to know that they too can survive and find happiness where they least expect it.
But most important, girls if you find a lump go and get it checked and if a doc tells you "don't worry, you are too young to have breast cancer" run and find someone who will listen! Take care of you!
Girls, hope you are all taking care of the boobs and doing those self exams!
Thanks for stopping by! If you have thoughts to share or questions for me I would love to hear from you!
Peace and Love,
